She works on an intimate scale which allows her to explore a subject in depth. Looking attentively over a sustained period, she gradually uncovers unexpected insights into colours and forms. Her paintings are a celebration of the meditative activity of looking for its own sake. The current themes of her work are the beautiful and endangered natural world, and the relationship between colour and culture.
Anne Waller is a painter based in London. She works from direct observation, focusing on still life and portraits.

Education
I started a degree in Fine Art but left after the first year, as the course did not offer training in observational drawing and painting. After studying languages and art history, I gradually built my drawing and observational painting skills through a combination of courses and independent practice.
