New English Art Club Annual Exhibition 2025
Artisan Toy Horse has been selected for the NEAC Annual Exhibition, from 12th to 21st June 2025 at the Mall Galleries, London.

“This painting depicts a hand-painted wooden horse from the mid-to-late 20th Century, decorated in the Khokhloma folk art style. I was fascinated by the rich golds, blacks, reds and greens, and how they appear under different lighting. Khokhloma is believed to have been influenced by icon painting: the illusion of gold is created by coating wood in linseed oil and powdered tin, then firing it in an oven. I saw a parallel between this process and the way my painting creates the illusion of gold through a wide variety of mixtures. This work is intended as a celebration of traditional folk art craftsmanship.”
